Helpful Insurance Claim Information
I just got off the phone with my insurance agent and she said the best thing that home owners can do is contact their agents as soon as they feel their home or property is in danger of fire damage. They may not be able to get out to your area immediately because of the amount of incoming calls, but it will allow them to estimate the amount of claims that they will be getting making it easier to calculate the amount of outside agents that will need to be brought in from other areas to speed up the claim process.
Things to remember if you happen to be evacuated from your home:
Medicine, important papers and files, animals (small animals are being accepted and many of the evacuation centers)
Also, if you have the opportunity remember to take pictures or video footage of your household and all belongings before you leave. This will allow the insurance process to move rapidly if (God forbid) your home happens to be damaged by these fires.
